I travel up to around an hour from the Adelaide CBD. A small travel fee applies to all in‑person sessions, including those within 5 km of the CBD, with fees increasing at 5 km, 10 km, 15 km, 20 km and beyond.
For clients within roughly 10–15 km of the CBD, travel usually fits easily into the day. For locations further out, session times may be arranged with a little more care to avoid long drives between clients in opposite directions. If you’re unsure whether your location is covered, just ask.
-
Yes. Remote sessions are available and are billed at the same rate as in‑person sessions. Remote sessions shorter than one hour are billed in tenths of the hourly rate.
-
Yes. If you prefer not to meet at your home or workplace, we can meet at a convenient public location such as a library or café. Rooms in the Adelaide CBD are also available when needed, though not offered routinely.

Genius on Demand provides personalised tuition, troubleshooting, setup and advice across everyday technologies — including computing, photography, mobile devices, software, cloud services and the web.
My photography and file‑management work draws on 14 years as a professional photographer in a diverse bureau‑style environment, first inside the Cambridge University Chemistry Department and later at EMBL in Heidelberg. That experience underpins the help I provide with organising photos, choosing equipment, understanding workflows and getting the most out of budget gear.
I also help with digital life‑admin, choosing devices, managing screen time for kids, getting started with photography or content creation, and understanding affordable AI tools for tasks like transcription, writing and brainstorming.
-
Yes. I regularly help parents set up healthy screen‑time arrangements for kids, choose appropriate devices, and understand the controls available on Apple, Android and gaming platforms.
I also work with people who are new to photography or content creation — whether you’re choosing your first camera, setting up a simple interview or blogging kit, or wanting to get the most out of budget equipment.
If you’re exploring AI tools for things like audio transcription, brainstorming, writing, or organising information, I can help you choose options that are affordable, privacy‑respectful and suited to your needs.

Sessions have a booked duration, but they’re not rigid. I tend to keep going if we’re making good progress, and if you’re happy for me to continue, I’ll usually keep working until the task reaches a natural stopping point.
If you need to finish exactly on time, just let me know at the start or anytime during the session. If we run out of time and there’s more to do, we can continue immediately (if the schedule allows) or pick it up next time. There’s never any pressure either way.
-
First sessions are often part discovery — understanding your setup, your needs, your aptitude and the depth of the issues. It’s not always possible to know in advance whether the booked time will be enough. If a session runs over and you’re happy to continue, I simply charge for the full time used.
I tend to keep going if we’re making good progress, and unless you tell me you need to finish exactly on time, I’ll usually keep working until we reach a natural stopping point.
I don’t usually charge for cancellations unless I’ve already travelled to your location.

-
Mostly no — but it’s always worth talking to us first. We can often diagnose issues, advise on repair options, or recommend cost‑effective alternatives.
-
We don’t perform hardware repairs, data recovery or traditional “virus removal” — modern malware rarely works that way.
However, we do help with: • identifying and removing adware or unwanted software • checking devices for signs of compromise • phishing, scam and privacy advice • improving security and password hygiene • assisting with digital recovery steps • providing letters for banks or institutions confirming a device has been checked
If you’re considering replacing a device, we can also help you choose the right option.
-
Yes, 1:1 is standard. Larger groups are available but require additional preparation and are priced on application.
-
To help everything run smoothly: • Have any usernames and passwords handy • Ensure keyboards, mice and other devices are charged • Clear the workspace of anything unstable, top‑heavy or fragile • By welcoming us inside, you’re confirming the space is safe to work in
-
Yes. Many sessions involve everyday technology tasks such as choosing home equipment, managing passwords, organising data, filling in online forms, or making sense of accounts and services. If it’s part of using modern devices or navigating digital life, we can usually help.
-
Yes. We regularly work with small businesses that manage their own IT. We can help with equipment choices, passwords, data organisation, online forms, cloud services and general digital workflows. If you need guidance on software, hosting or providers, we can point you in the right direction.
-
That’s completely normal. Many clients start with a general problem, a goal, or simply a sense that things aren’t working as well as they should. We can talk through what you’re trying to achieve and work out the right approach together.
-
Yes. Some clients see us as needed, others prefer monthly sessions, and some book in every few months.
We can work in whatever rhythm suits you.

Tempting, but no.
